Hana Pera Aoake & Taarn Scott: Untitled

Working and thinking together through ideas around excess, waste, bacteria, and water we have built an exhibition made into a collage of scribbles, found objects, wool, photos, drawings, paintings, rubbish, ceramics, plants and other minutiae. These objects have amalgamated together like an organism, growing and expanding, tacked, glued and taped together. Sharing a studio together revealed commonalities through the rescued object, the works in progress and chaotic potential of it all.
No one object is rarefied over another. Childhood memories are stuck beside half made artworks, ideas half formed or rejected float, the living and nonliving are in symbiosis and the broken and discarded are remade.
Taarn Scott is an emerging artist from Ōtepoti. She graduated from Elam with a BFA(hons) in 2019. Since the beginning of 2020 she has been developing her practice full time participating in the Saint Petersburg Virtual artist residency, and showing with the Razklon gallery in Bulgaria in 2021. Her work explores the figure and body through drawing and mark making. She is currently playing with ceramics and woodcuts. instagram.com/taarnscott Scott.taarn@gmail.com
