Wheelchair / Accessible Access
This venue is wheelchair accessible via the main entrance (the doors to get into the venue are easy to open). There is no limit on the number of wheelchair seats; seats are not fixed, so can be easily moved to accommodate wheelchair users.
The entrance to this venue is 1460mm when both doors are open, and 730mm when one door is open.
There are no stairs, but the floor in this venue is on a slant.
Bathrooms
There is a wheelchair accessible bathroom at this venue. The door through to the hallways is 830mm wide, and the bathroom door is 780mm wide.
Approach to Venue
Te Whare o Rukutia is located at 20 Princes St. Entry to the venue is from the footpath and there are no steps up to the venue. Availability of parking can be an issue, but there are five-minute parks nearby (outside the Octagon Night & Day, on the Princes St side) which can be used for pick-up and drop-off and an accessible park across the street.
Service Dogs
Service dogs are welcome at this venue, and there are a couple of blankets that can be provided for their comfort.
Content Notes
Any use of strobe lighting in shows will be signposted at the venue, as will any atmospheric effects (eg haze). Artists are encouraged to provide information about sensitive content at the venue as well as online.
Audience members at this venue are able to leave without disrupting the performance, should the need arise.
