Stand Up, Stand Out: Comedy School for Teens is a series of workshops, 1:1 coaching and a performance showcase for 13-17 year olds designed to encourage and educate a new generation in the art of stand up comedy.

The school runs throughout the week of Dunedin Fringe. There will be two workshops dedicated to crafting existing thoughts and material into a 4 minute set. A third workshop will focus on stagecraft, delivery and mic technique in preparation for the final performance showcase.

Additionally, each of the eight participants will be allocated a visiting, experienced and professional comedian as a mentor for an 1:1 hour of coaching. We're excited to have some big names in comedy who have agreed to come onboard. All of the workshops, coaching and the final performance are outside of school hours and participants are expected to attend all the offerings.

The school is about creating legitimacy around comedy as an art form and career in Aotearoa, engaging new audiences and encouraging the diverse voices of our rangatahi to be expressed and heard, validated and encouraged. Registrations for the eight comedy school participants are open, closing Thursday 29 February. For more information or registration details, please email harriet_moir@hotmail.com
