Spectacle Presents: PLAY : Dunedin Fringe Festival

Spectacle Presents: PLAY

Ōtepoti | Dunedin

Exhibition Visual Art Music

Six core artists exploring one theme through multiple mediums. A sensory feast.

Ōtepoti | Dunedin

A dynamic, immersive, participatory pan-art show in which six core artists and their collaborators explore the theme 'Play'.

Immerse yourself in interactive dating experience 'Hello Stranger 2 (Danger!)' and see where you end up - will you solve the murder mystery? Or will you fall in love with a dangerous monster? Experience various phonemes of the human language as you walk through a corridor of speakers and visual art. Frolic with flocculent shapes - will you solve the puzzle or creatively build your own sculpture? Your imagination is the limit. Be a part of a unique interactive music performance, where you drive the musicians - how far can you push them before the musical rhombus spontaneously collapses? Or will there be an exuberant eruption of awesome?

To close the opening event, Ōtepoti’s sci-fi-soaked post-rock collective Space Bats Attack! will take you on an exploratory and intricate celestial riff journey.

Nominated for Best Original Concept, Best Dance and Outstanding Technical Achievement at their debut show in 2021 Dunedin Fringe Festival.

This is a FREE event thanks to a DCC Arts Grant, Dunedin Fringe Festival, Creative New Zealand, Dunedin Dream Brokerage, Emersons Brewery, Inch Bar, Art Design Film, Phantom Billstickers, Woof!, Relics, Beam Me Up Bagels and Grid Coffee.
