Jilted bride Spencer Houle marks each year of the would-be wedding date shut in her apartment, eating junk food, and binge-watching period piece movies wearing her $5000 Vera Wang wedding dress. Her Neechies Carm, Linda and Maggie life-long friends all from the same small Anishinaabe reserve in Canada determine enough is enough and convince Spencer to join them for a weekend of nightlife and dancing at the Salsa and Mambo club. Instead, chaos ensues when Lewis Longclaws, Spencer's ex-fiance appears at the dance club and an arrow is fired at him by a mysterious shooter. Probable cause lands the Neechies in jail for questioning for attempted murder. But, the Neechie's have credible intel on who Lewis really is and bamboozle police weaving hilarious stories about UFO's, Sabe (Bigfoot), ingrown toenails, Spencer's $5000 Vera Wang wedding dress, the ugly puce bridesmaids dresses they ALMOST HAD to wear. As the night progresses in the holding cell, old wounds and grudges are stirred up and Spencer learns the real truth about her ex-fiance. In the end, justice prevails, the Neechies are exonerated and let off. Jo MacDonald (Anishinaabe) writes Indigenous comedy gold to examine the enduring power of love and the bonds of Indigenous sisterhood.
