SBZ Productions presents: The John Show, with John Goudge.

Every home has one, but how much do we know about them? Who was John Doe? Did John Crapper invent the toilet? An all-star cast of Johns bring you the words of famous and infamous Johns from throughout history. Auckland actor John Goudge is literally turned upside down in this one-person show, as his alter-egos take him on a journey from injustice to hope.

The John Show premiered at the Auckland Fringe Festival in September 2022 at Pitt St Theatre, Auckland. The festival awarded actor John Goudge an ‘Honourable Mention’ for outstanding theatre and music performance.

Here’s what audiences said about The John Show:

“A triumphant showcase of the human spirit against adversity. Funny, brave, and raw.”

The John Show is a cleverly written and thought-provoking play. John Goudge is the ultimate John of many faces. He not only throws a mirror up against the famous John's in history but also delves into the darker parts of human nature. John is an incredibly talented person, and this show is an emotional energetic masterpiece.”

“It has it all! John Goudge nods some of the (many) Johns - spotlighting the Johns of freedom.”

“I knew he was funny. I knew he was a one-man band, but man, did I get more than I bargained for. He is a bandit of our attention, and certainly got mine as his story resonated with me on a deeply personal level. Thank you.”

“Not to be missed. Thoroughly insightful and cathartic for all of us.”

“Something I’ve never witnessed in theatre before.”

“Interesting, creative, funny, interactive, thought provoking, entertaining, insightful, and brave. ❤️ So glad we got to see it.”
