The Bard + Garden Party = The Barden Party!

Get ready for an injection of joy into your summer. Imagine the classic love story of Romeo and Juliet with a twist, being played out in a Dunedin garden near you! Award-winning theatre company The Barden Party is back for their third year, bringing their usual fun-loving spin to Romeo and Juliet and filling Shakespeare's most famous play with their general hilarious, heartfelt antics. Set as modern-bohemian romance put to Kiwi and Australian music you love, and that you’ve never heard before ... You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll dance the night away. Featured music includes: Dave Dobbyn, Brooke Fraser, The Dreggs, Matt Corby, Th' Dudes, Crowded House and more.

Let us set the scene: a small troupe of travelling actors turn up to your house or venue and perform Shakespeare, comedy and live music for you while you drink wine with your closest mates (audiences from any number up to 100 outdoors). Available for private and public bookings.

How boujee is that?
3 words: Music, Mischief, Magic.

(This show is raucous, rocking, ridiculously hilarious and a take on Romeo and Juliet like you've never seen. Very accessible professional Shakespeare. For all ages.)

From the company that brought you the winner of 2022’s Dunedin Fringe Excellence Award, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, rockabilly Much Ado About Nothing, the lounge show Cocktales and the critically acclaimed immersive theatre experience on superyacht yacht Seabreeze III, Butterfly Smokescreen.
