A Moving History of St Clair Beach

See tickets below

Faulting, folding, gathering, seagulls, longshore drift, roaming, dog walking, human intervention, sun-bathing seals, sausages, chasing waves, rock people, crumbling walls. GASP! Dance Trust explores St Clair beach and it’s rich history in this series of dynamic short dance films, performed by dancers with and without disabilities.

We employ a collaborative choreographic approach within our work, where performers contribute to each project and have the opportunity to explore their own creative movement ideas. Our very first dance film highlights the strengths and talents of our dancers, and showcases the beauty of Ōtepoti, Dunedin. The majority of performers involved in the film have lived experience of disability.

Audiences have two opportunities to view the film, come to one or all! Dress up in your promenading finest and celebrate with GASP! at the premiere ONLINE showing on Saturday 19 March, where you will have the opportunity to meet the performers during an online Zoom Q&A session. There will be a prize for best dressed, and goodie bags for you to collect prior to viewing from home. From the 21st onwards until the end of the Fringe Festival you can view the film online.
