Three bodies dance through spaces of physical reality and psychological stipulations.

The imagined and actual impositions of the mind. An entangled cognitive tracing through movement.

The inhabitants leave behind traces and echoes of memories and movement, as one world fades into the next. Where does one body begin and another end? Time morphs into a kaleidoscope of interpretation. So for now we invite you to come and sit here with us. As you too once inhabited this space.

Our Jurisdiction is collectively held by Emma Broad, Evie Logan and Lulu Qiu as they occupy this fabricated existence. It is Deborah Fletcher’s first full length independent work. Her work is inherently collaborative; it is as much influenced by the people involved as driven by the thematic content. Her work pivots on the intersection of movement, live art, collaboration and the interplay of interdisciplinary elements.

After Our Jurisdiction’s premiere in Tāmaki Makaurau at Basement Theatre in 2023, we are delighted to give the work another life in Ōtepoti/Dunedin.

Our Jurisdiction holds time hostage; a distortion reiterated in movement. The choreography cycles through gestures that become fresher with each pass and hypnotically soothe my usual impatience—by no means a small feat.” - Teianna Chenkovich, Theatreview
