A lone bench, engraved with a tribute, sits precariously high on a windswept cliff, overlooking a wild and unpredictable ocean. It's a place often visited by the ethereal and mysterious Margot ... a place to reflect, share ... and confide. Will you lend a sympathetic ear?

This gem of a play by Lindsay Brown is short but full of dynamic, comedy, intrigue ... unease ...

Margot's Bench premiers the work of Collision Theatre, formed by Esther Smith and Cheryl Amos, two impulsive women colluding and collaborating with spontaneity and joy!

Featuring Esther Smith:

“Hi everyone! Since growing up in Ōtepoti learning Speech and Drama, I look back lovingly on a busy career in the arts spanning acting, coaching, writing, speaking, and dance. Tall, animated, and a bit on the wild side, you can usually hear me from blocks afar finding hilarity in seemingly boring moments. Over the years I’ve learned from a range of organizations and individuals across NZ and Australia, through which comedy has become a secret crush of mine. It is therefore an absolute treat to be exploring it alongside the fountain of skill and knowledge that is Cheryl”.

Directed by Cheryl Amos:

“Hi there! I’ve enjoyed a wide and varied career over the last 30 years, working all over New Zealand, weaving together acting, writing, stand up, teaching, improvisation, and direction. Like all woven tapestries, the front looks pretty good, and the back is full of knots and tangles comprised of hearty humiliations and challenges along the way! But hey, isn't that what makes us whole? I’ve enjoyed being part of the Dunedin theatre scene for many years, and I’m looking forward to the day we get to tread the boards in a fit-for-purpose theatre again. I'm currently a member of Improsaurus – Dunedin’s beautiful company of improvisers. Working with Esther is proving to be a real delight! 10 minutes for 10 dollars!“
