Black Box Performance Space : Dunedin Fringe Festival

Black Box Performance Space

The Black Box is a performance space in the front window of 26 Princes St, where artists perform to passers by and to ticket holders of shows in the neighbouring Te Whare o Rukutia.

We welcome applications from Fringe Groups and non-Fringe Groups. The type of performance is completely up to you, as long as it’s suitable for a public performance. It can be a good opportunity to promote your Fringe show.

This year, the Black Box will run on the Thursday, Friday, and Saturday both weeks of the Dunedin Fringe Festival (March 16-18 and 23-25). Depending on the level of interest, we may run two or three half-hour performance slots each night, although performers are under no obligation to fill the entire thirty minutes.

Fill out this short application form  to apply to perform at the Black Box.

We have a PA & mixer available to use, including 2 vocal mics, 1 ambient mic, 2 DIs and 4 mic stands that you can use. If you need additional technical equipment, you'll need to bring it with you. A member of staff will help set up and manage the crowd watching from outside.

If you have any questions about performing in the Black Box, please get in touch by emailing production@dunedinfringe.nz or calling us on +64 3 477 3350.
