Irishman Alan McElroy's back with a new show about his childhood in Dublin & mad stories

Tāmaki Makaurau | Auckland

Irish comedian Alan McElroy is back with a brand new, high energy show that reflects on his childhood in Dublin in the 80’s and 90’s. A wildly different time, when his mother ran Ann Summer ‘sexy knickers’ parties in the sitting room, he was kidnapped only to find out it was fake and staged by his parents as punishment because he ate the roses ... not the sweets but the flowers in the garden.

After a recent diagnosis of ADHD at the age of 42, Alan reflects on his many impulsive shenanigans, now with a better understanding of how his brain functions and why he did so much dumb s#!t.

Alan McElroy is an award winning Irish comedian living in New Zealand. He's fresh from a 28 show sell-out tour of NZ with his show Booze & Craic and the Fringe festivals with his show Mistaken Identity. In 2022 he sold out the full run of the The Full Irish & The Comedy Pub Crawl at Melbourne International Comedy Festival, and is also a regular guest on Radio New Zealand’s The Panel. He has performed at comedy & Fringe festivals around the world.

With his energetic, storytelling style, Alan is a sought-after MC and headliner at comedy clubs and corporate events around NZ. He was nominated for Best MC & Best Producer with his company, Crack Up Comedy, at the NZ Comedy Guild Awards 2023. 2024 is shaping up to be a busy year again with his new show, Mad, Innit?!, locked in for NZ Fringe, Dunedin Fringe, Melbourne Comedy Festival and the NZ International Comedy Festival.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “Excellent Irish story teller performing a hilarious night of comedy” - Funny Tonne, Melbourne International Comedy Festival

⭐⭐⭐⭐ "What McElroy lacks in number of retweets and social media savvy, he makes up for in spades with his comical prowess and jovial energy live on stage." - Appetite for the Arts
