Twenty years ago, Jeremy Elwood was reluctantly talked into doing his first ever stand-up comedy gig in a dark, smoke-filled (because you still could, back then) bar right here in Dunedin. He only did it because the MC had run out of performers and still had had time to fill, so he called up the only person in the front row whose name he knew. Jeremy was armed with a bunch of dumb "jokes" he'd written during a dull lecture earlier that day and a few pints of dutch courage. It was....ok. It's been quite a ride since then. His topical, social commentary-laced brand of comedy has taken him around the world; to festivals including the Edinburgh Fringe, Adelaide Fringe. Melbourne International Comedy Festival, World Buskers Festival and the NZ International Comedy Festival; headlining comedy clubs across Australia, Canada, the USA, UK and Singapore as well as performances in Indonesia, Papua New Guinea and East Timor. He has made audiences laugh from Invercargill to the Arctic Circle, from Jakarta to San Francisco. Let's just say that his Airpoints history is impressive. Here at home he is a regular on TV3's 7Days, RNZ's The Panel, and has appeared on The Comedy Gala, After Hours and Aotearo-Ha! He has performed in pubs in towns you've never heard of, and to sold-out crowds in the grandest theatres in New Zealand. He has won numerous awards, critical acclaim and a reputation for an unflinching, insightful take on current events and contemporary society. Now it's time to bring it back to where it all began. After a six-year absence, Jeremy returns to the Dunedin Fringe with a three night only showcase blending his newest observations with some of his favourite stories from throughout his career. A homegrown favourite who's on top of his game? Bring it on. This is a three-night stand forged over two decades. Get in quick to see one of New Zealand's finest comedians celebrate a milestone on home turf. Winner, Best Comedy — Dunedin Fringe 2009. ‘His biting commentary chews up and spits out everything and anything in its path.’ — Theatrescenes ‘Jeremy really does knock it out of the park’ — TVNZ ‘Fresh, original and thoughtful comedy that you won't find anywhere else’ — Theatreview ‘Brilliant, in the American sense of the word — meaning actually brilliant’ — Doug Stanhope
